Dog Friendly Parks – Melbourne

Dog Friendly Parks – Melbourne

We love weekend walks with our furry best friends, and one of our favourite parts is meeting new furry friends at our local dog parks. We've put together a list of some of the best dog friendly parks around Melbourne, for both pooch and human alike!

1. Pawfield Park

2 Booran Rd, Caulfield East

One of the most popular dog friendly parks in Melbourne is Pawfield in Caulfield. This park boasts a number of pooch friendly features including obstacles, an area for obedience training, and a designated 'Small Dog Area' (fenced off so all the lil pups can safely run around with new friends of the same size!). You can also access Caulfield Reserve which features a playground amongst wetlands in centre of Caulfield racecourse.

2. Citizens Park

Highett Street (between Church and Gleadell Streets), Richmond

Citizens Park is one of the busiest and most popular parks in the area, it is also Richmond's largest park. This fenced oval is still used for organised sports, but most often you will find this park abuzz with local pups. Citizens park features a number of public facilities including a BBQ area, playground, picnic tables, public bathrooms and a large off-leash area for the doggos.

3. Edinburgh Gardens

Alfred Crescent, Fitzroy North

Nestled just off Brunswick Street in Fitzroy North, the Edinburgh Gardens feature an expansive off leash dog area. Originally established in 1862, these beautiful gardens are home to a number of facilities including a pavilion, tennis courts, a bowling club, basketball court and most notably a fenced dog park. Edinburgh Gardens is also one of the few Melbourne parks where you are permitted to drink alcohol, which provides the perfect opportunity for a Prosecco in the park with the pooch! (Be sure to double check the Yarra City Council website for the most up to date information regarding liquor consumption in the gardens).

4. Victoria Park

Cnr Abbot Street and Lulie St, Abbotsford

A little gem in the heart of Abbotsford, Victoria Park is a favourite with dogs and their owners alike. Affectionately known as 'Vic Park' this oval and stadium was the home of the Collingwood Football Club for over 100 years, until 2005. The park is still frequently used as a venue for sporting matches along with community events, however when the ground is free it's a favourite with all of the local pups and pawrents!
