When it comes to their pets, owners only want the best for them and that includes a stylish wardrobe and accessories to match their own.
Sarah Macleod, who has a background in the Melbourne fashion industry, identified a gap in the market for contemporary, fashion-forward accessories in the pet space.
“As a ‘dog-mum’ myself, I was struggling to find products that complemented and aligned with my style, so I decided to design my own,” she explains.
“After Covid hit Australia and brought the Melbourne fashion industry to a standstill, I took the opportunity to make this idea a reality, and so Bourke St the Label was born.”
Launching to the public today, the brand started from a desire to create an elevated, fashion-focused product for the pet space—to design pieces that are not only functional, but speak to trends and complement the wardrobe of the pet owner.
Inspired by her home city of Melbourne, Bourke St The Label will be launching its debut collection at First Instyle, which opens this Thursday at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne.
“This is the first time we will have our product in front of retailers, buyers and other industry professionals, which is incredibly exciting. We are really looking forward to meeting with industry professionals face-to-face and seeing them engage and interact with the product for the first time,” enthuses Macleod.
“We are equally as excited about connecting with other exhibitors—launching a brand is tough and there are a unique set of challenges, so it’s wonderful when you have the opportunity to meet other like-minded creatives on a similar journey.”
In terms of product offering, buyers can expect to see a curated selection of designs including leads, collars and waste bag holders.
“Our debut collection also features our signature ‘circular’ lead, which is our unique registered design. We hope to excite retailers with our contemporary and innovative designs and provide them with a renewed perspective on the pet space for the future.”
