LAUNCHING FEB 2024:
OUR RECLAIMED TEXTILES COLLECTION
THE AMSTERDAM PRINT
The 'Amsterdam' print is the first in our series of reclaimed textile collections.
The entire collection is both sourced and made locally in Melbourne.
This collection is comprised from reclaimed textiles (or 'deadstock') meaning we are able to give new life to fabrics that may have otherwise ended up in landfill.
The selection process is exhaustive, Sarah has spent hours scouring the archives through (literally) thousands of rolls of fabric to find the perfect prints, fabrics and textures to make sure you and your pup are best dressed.
Fabric composition is incredibly important to us at Bourke St the Label, we strive to find fabrics that are kinder to the planet and kind to our furry-friends.
This collection is made from a fabric called lyocell. Lyocell is known for breathability, durability, sustainability and comfort - making it perfect for pups!
It is hypoallergenic, doesn’t cling, is 50% more absorbent than cotton, and, unlike cotton it wicks away moisture.
We are always looking for ways to minimise our impact - our brand ethos is to: support animals, not cause harm and give back as best we can.
As a brand we are proudly made with vegan leather - we are made for animals, not from - but we are highly aware that vegan leather is not made without impact. We are always striving to find better alternatives throughout our textile selection, manufacturing processes and supply chain.
In addition, through our partnership with i=Change, $1 from every order of the 'Amsterdam' collection made with us at Bourke St goes to charity.
Further information on Lyocell:
Lyocell is made from wood pulp and cellulose fibers, which are biodegradable. The production of lyocell doesn’t use toxic chemicals, and 99.5% of the dissolving agent can be used repeatedly. Compared to cotton, lyocell has the potential to use less than half as much water in production. The fabric’s breathability is also great for the planet, as it doesn’t start smelling as quickly and can be washed less frequently, saving water.
